Implant-Supported Dentures in Rincon, GA
When you have lost teeth, it can be difficult to feel confident eating, smiling, and speaking. While there are many options for tooth replacement out there, none are as convenient or sturdy as implant-supported dentures.
Unlike conventional dentures that rest on top of your gums and uses adhesive to secure the prosthesis, implant-supported dentures are anchored to your jawbone using dental implants so that they won’t slip. Implant-supported dentures will take the full force of the bite, absorbing it through the implants and into the jawbone, providing you with the most natural and effective solution for replacing your teeth.
At iHeart Dental, we provide exceptional implant-supported dentures in Rincon, GA. Our talented and highly skilled dentist Dr. Misty M. Seale, DMD, will design fully customized permanent dentures that replicate a natural bite, restoring your ability to eat comfortably and talk and smile confidently.
What are Dentures Supported by Implants?
Permanent dentures supported by dental implants are customized acrylic arch of artificial teeth fixed to the mouth via strategically placed implants. Sometimes called “All on 4 dentures,” these fixed dentures attach directly to strategically placed titanium dental implant posts that serve the same purpose as the roots of natural teeth — they anchor replacement teeth to your jawbone.
Because titanium has the unique ability to fuse to living bone, your implant-supported dentures become a part of your jawbone and help preserve its volume and density and provide stimulation to the jawbone, keeping it from atrophying. The denture is attached to the implants with snap-on mechanisms.
Types of Implant-Supported Dentures
At iHeart Dental, we provide two types of implant-supported dentures, implant-supported overdenture and implant-supported zirconium denture. During your consultation with us, we’ll discuss what would work best for you.
Implant-supported overdenture: These are “Snap-On” dentures that attach to implants in the mouth. They are removable dental prosthesis supported by the residual oral tissues and employs dental implants for retention. At least three months of healing time will be needed to allow the implants to fully osseointegrate to the bone (fuse to your jawbone) before delivering the final prosthesis. During this healing period, you can wear a modified denture to replace the function of your teeth. This modified denture is designed not to overstress the implants.
Implant-supported zirconium denture–These are “screwed-in” and stay fixed in the mouth. You will also need at least three months of healing time to allow the implants to fully osseointegrate to the bone before delivering the final prosthesis. These screw-retained dentures are not removable.
How Long Do Dental Implants Last?
With proper care, good oral hygiene habits, and keeping the jawbone healthy through adequate nutrition, implant-supported dentures can last for 15 years or longer. In addition, the implant screw itself can last a lifetime, assuming you receive regular dental check-ups every six months.
What Do Implant-Supported Dentures Cost?
The cost of fixed dentures varies depending on your condition and preference, but luckily, dental insurance may help with the cost. Factors like jawbone density, oral health, and overall health can affect the cost. For example, if you need bone grafting to build jawbone volume, that can increase the cost.
